Overview:

As the Academy Strength and Conditioning Coach – Goalkeeping Pathway at Al-Qadsiah Club, you will design and deliver high-performance physical development programmes tailored to the demands of goalkeeping. You will support athletic development, performance, and injury resilience across the Academy, aligning physical preparation with technical and tactical development.

Key Responsibilities:

Strength and Performance Development

  • Design and deliver strength and conditioning programmes to develop strength, power, speed, and fatigue resistance
  • Implement structured, periodised training programmes with progressive overload and recovery strategies
  • Integrate physical development into the technical and tactical training curriculum
  • Deliver age-appropriate programmes across all Academy phases
  • Monitor and evaluate player development including strength progression and movement efficiency

Goalkeeper-Specific Physical Development

  • Design and deliver position-specific programmes aligned to the demands of goalkeeping
  • Develop key physical qualities including explosive actions, acceleration, deceleration, and change of direction
  • Collaborate with Goalkeeping staff to align physical and technical development
  • Monitor training loads and adapt programmes based on match demands, growth, and return-to-play protocols

Injury Prevention and Physical Robustness

  • Implement injury prevention strategies to reduce overload and fatigue-related injuries
  • Develop targeted programmes addressing common football and goalkeeper injury risks
  • Support rehabilitation and return-to-play processes in collaboration with medical staff

Performance Analysis and Monitoring

  • Utilise performance monitoring tools and technologies to assess physical performance
  • Analyse data to inform training programmes and individual development plans
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting for the multidisciplinary team

Player Education and Development

  • Educate players on physical preparation, recovery strategies, and strength training principles
  • Promote safe training techniques and effective self-management habits
  • Contribute to a high-performance culture across the Academy

Collaboration and Professional Development

  • Work closely with coaching, sports science, and medical staff to support player development
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge through continuous professional development
  • Support additional duties aligned with departmental needs

Qualifications

Desirable:

  • Master’s degree in Strength and Conditioning or Sports Performance
  • Goalkeeping coaching qualification (UEFA GK License or equivalent)
  • FIFA Guardian safeguarding qualification

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, or a related field
  • Strength and Conditioning certification (NSCA-CSCS, UKSCA, or equivalent)
  • Experience as a Strength and Conditioning Coach in professional or academy football
  • Experience working with goalkeepers and understanding their physical demands
  • Advanced knowledge of strength training and biomechanics applied to football
  • Proficiency using performance monitoring technologies
  • Ability to adapt programmes across different age groups and development stages
  • Strong communication skills across multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to work within an international and multicultural environment
  • Fluency in English

Desirable:

  • Experience working in the Middle East
  • Multilingual capability
