Overview:
As the Academy Psychologist at Al-Qadsiah Club, you will lead the delivery of psychological services across all academy age groups. You will be responsible for embedding mental skills development and promoting psychological wellbeing, ensuring our players develop the resilience, character, and mindset to perform at the highest levels – on and off the pitch.
Key Responsibilities:
Mental Skills & Player Development
- Design and implement a comprehensive psychology and mental skills curriculum across all academy phases.
- Deliver group and one-to-one psychological interventions tailored to player development, wellbeing, and performance.
- Support players through key transitions, including injury, promotion, or deselection.
- Collaborate with coaches, staff, and parents to promote a psychologically safe and high-performance culture.
- Provide psychological insights for player reviews and contribute to Individual Development Plans (IDPs).
Professional Development & Alignment
- Ensure all psychological approaches are grounded in current research and best practices.
- Attend conferences, seminars, and CPD sessions to maintain an evidence-based approach.
- Contribute to academy-wide meetings and ensure alignment with the club’s holistic development model.
- Deliver training and workshops to upskill staff in psychological topics and player care.
Operational Excellence
- Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and ethics in data handling and athlete care.
- Fulfil any additional responsibilities as directed by the Head of Performance or Academy Technical Director.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Master’s degree in Sport Psychology, Performance Psychology, or related discipline.
- Eligible for or working towards accreditation (e.g., HCPC, BPS, BASES, or equivalent).
- FIFA Guardian safeguarding qualification.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
Essential:
- Proven experience delivering psychology support in elite youth sport environments.
- Deep understanding of psychological development across childhood and adolescence.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage players, staff, and parents.
- Cultural adaptability and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary work.
- Fluent in English.
Desirable:
- Experience working in Saudi Arabia or the Middle East.
- Multilingual capabilities, particularly in Spanish or Arabic.
